To improve the accuracy of analysis outputs from remotely sensed images, shadow and illumination effects need to be minimised or removed. Shadow behaviour at different spectral wavelengths needs to be understood to quantify shadow accurately.

Shadow Economies around the World: What do we really know? [PDF]
Using the DYMIMIC approach, estimates of the shadow economy in 110 developing, transition and developed OECD countries are presented. The average size of the shadow economy (in percent of official GDP) over 1999-2000 in developing countries is 41%, in ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Lo, the ever confounding nipple shadow! [PDF]
The discovery of a solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) on chest imaging can be alarming for both the clinician and the patient. In the absence of a uniform guideline, managing SPN is nothing short of challenging for primary care physicians (PCPs). We present

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Shadow lattices and shadow codes
Shadow codes of self-dual codes have been used to derive upper bounds on the minimum distance of these codes, and to construct self-dual codes of larger lengths. Shadows of unimodular lattices have been used to derive upper bounds on the minimum norm of Type I lattices.

HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

The Shadow of Horror: A Semiotic Analysis of Cinematic Transitions in Ivanna (2022)
This research examines the representation of scenes in the movie Ivanna (2022) using the shadow technique through a qualitative approach and Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory. Ivanna is a horror film that tells the story of the spirit of Ivanna, a
