Shadow Detection and Restoration for Hyperspectral Images Based on Nonlinear Spectral Unmixing

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Shadows are frequently observable in high-resolution images, raising challenges in image interpretation, such as classification and object detection.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Labor Institutions and their Impact on Shadow Economies in Europe [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyzes the role of labor market institutions in explaining developments of shadow economies in European countries. We use several alternative measures of the shadow sector, and we examine effects of labor institutions on shadow sector in two

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

The data shadow

open access: yesACM SIGCAS Computers and Society, 2017
This hypothetical story is about personal data which resides on the internet. It has its foundation in things which have happened. It raises serious questions about whether we should be more wary of, and whether there are things organisations and individuals could do to reduce the risks associated with data shadows.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Shadow Teaching Scheme for Children with Autism and Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder in Regular Schools

open access: yes, 2010
This study aimed to determine the place of shadow teaching in the education and training of children with special needs (CSN). The study reveals that shadow and regular teachers agree that shadow teaching helps improve the academic performance ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Corruption and the Shadow Economy: A Structural Equation Model Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
The relationship between corruption and the shadow economy is not clear. Theoretically, they either substitute or complement each other – exhibiting either a negative or positive relationship.
