Multistage Progressive Invariant Image-Guided Network for Image Shadow Removal

open access: yesIEEE Access
Shadow removal is essential for improving image visual quality, as shadows often block important details and cause color distortion. At present, most shadow removal models still have clear limitations in handling this task.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A dynamic alignment and illumination‐aware convolution for shadow removal

open access: yesIET Image Processing
Shadow removal is a challenging task because the variety of shadows is influenced by surface texture and lighting. This paper proposes a dynamic alignment and illumination‐aware convolution (DAIC), which consists of a Feature Alignment Module (FAM) and a

Removing Shadows from Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Illumination conditions cause problems for many computer vision algorithms. In particular, shadows in an image can cause segmentation, tracking, or recognition algorithms to fail. In this paper we propose a method to process a 3-band colour image to locate, and subsequently remove shadows.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Shadow Removal from UAV Images Based on Color and Texture Equalization Compensation of Local Homogeneous Regions

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Due to imaging and lighting directions, shadows are inevitably formed in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images. This causes shadowed regions with missed and occluded information, such as color and texture details.

Shadow Image Enlargement Distortion Removal

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
This project aims to adopt preprocessing operations to get less distortions for shadow image enlargement. The preprocessing operations consists of three main steps: first enlarge the original shadow image by using any kind of interpolation methods, second apply average filter to the enlargement image and finally apply the unsharp filter to the previous

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Image Shadow Removal Using End-to-End Deep Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Image degradation caused by shadows is likely to cause technological issues in image segmentation and target recognition. In view of the existing shadow removal methods, there are problems such as small and trivial shadow processing, the scarcity of end ...
