Impact of pile roughness on shaft resistance in sand

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Geotechnical Engineering, 2019
The impact of pile roughness on shaft resistance was studied using centrifuge modelling. Two types of piles with different roughness were jacked in flight at 100g in dense and medium dense Fontainebleau NE34 sands. An experimental method was used to infer the pile shaft and tip capacities.

Analysis of the Shaft Resistance of Nondisplacement Piles in Sand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The paper examines, using numerical modelling, the problem of the limit shaft resistance of non-displacement piles installed in sands. The modelling makes use of an advanced, two-surface-plasticity constitutive model.
