Mechanisms of the imbibition behavior in shales: A critical review
Despite the success of hydraulic fracturing in yielding large production increases from shale gas reservoirs, uncertainties associated with basic transport processes require understanding in order to improve the efficiency and minimize environmental ...

Gas flow in shale reservoirs [PDF]
This study incorporates various gas transport mechanisms in shale nanopores with nonlinear and non-equilibrium gas adsorptiondesorption kinetics. We formulate a simplified model for matrix and hydraulic fractures to study the dynamic production performance of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells in shale gas reservoirs.

Gas-condensate flow modelling for shale gas reservoirs. [PDF]
In the last decade, shale reservoirs emerged as one of the fast growing hydrocarbon resources in the world unlocking vast reserves and reshaping the landscape of the oil and gas global market.

Shale Reservoir-Centric Completions [PDF]
In North America, the transition from more conventional reservoirs into tight, basin-centered gas and now source shales has caused the industry to change the way reservoir performance is being assessed, measured, and documented. Historically in conventional reservoirs the reservoir quality was carefully examined on a well by well basis to determine ...

Static and dynamic connectivity in bed-scale models of faulted and unfaulted turbidites [PDF]
A range of unfaulted and faulted bed-scale models with sheet-like bed geometries have been built and analysed in terms of static bed connectivity and fractional permeability assuming permeable sands and impermeable shales. The models are built using a

Numerical Simulation of Gas and Water Flow Mechanism in Hydraulically Fractured Shale Gas Reservoirs [PDF]
The problem of the fracturing water remaining in hydraulically fractured shale gas reservoirs has become one of the major concerns in terms of gas productivity and operating costs.

The effect of interbedding on shale reservoir properties
North Sea oil is overwhelmingly generated in shales of the Upper Jurassic – basal Cretaceous Kimmeridge Clay Formation. Once generated, the oil is expelled and ultimately migrates to accumulate in sandstone or carbonate reservoirs. The source rock shales, however, still contain the portion of the oil that was not expelled.

In 2012, China's first national shale gas demonstrations areas were set up in the Sichuan Basin. After 10 years' construction and practice, the giant marine shale gas area of 10 × 1012 m3 level is built up in the Sichuan Basin, and shale gas steps into a

Understanding the True Stimulated Reservoir Volume in Shale Reservoirs [PDF]
Abstract Successful exploitation of shale reservoirs largely depends on the effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing stimulation program. Favorable results have been attributed to intersection and reactivation of pre-existing fractures by hydraulically-induced fractures that connect the wellbore to a larger fracture surface area within the ...

Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Adsorbed Gas and Gas Production in Shale Formations
Adsorbed gas and free gas both exist in shale reservoirs simultaneously due to the unique nanoscale pore structure, resulting in the complex flow mechanism of gas in the reservoir during the development process.
