Topological Derivative-Based Topology Optimization of Linearized Viscous Shallow Water Equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences
In this paper, we focus on the derivation of the topological derivative of shallow water equations. We consider two-dimensional viscous shallow-water equations linearized around a constant velocity.

Human‐Scale Rotating Magnetic Field Delivery With Permanent Magnets Under Anatomic and Robotic Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Rotating magnetic fields (RMFs) are widely used for microrobot propulsion and control. We show that RMF generation with permanent magnets is mechanically feasible for many limb and intracranial applications but becomes constrained for thoracic targets.

The Evolution of Wind Waves in Shallow Water over Variable Topography and a Background Current: Korteweg–de Vries Framework

open access: yesFluids
The Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) equation is widely known as a canonical model for weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive waves, notably and historically for water waves in shallow depths.

Wireless Precise Manipulation of Tumor Spheroids Using a Millirobot Controlled by Permanent Magnetic Traps

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A magnetic donut‐like millirobot is developed for label‐free pick‐and‐place of a tumor spheroid wirelessly controlled by a magnetic trap. Spheroids are important 3D multicellular culture systems that recapitulate key structural and functional features of native tissues.

The Well-Posedness of Solutions for a Generalized Shallow Water Wave Equation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
A nonlinear partial differential equation containing the famous Camassa-Holm and Degasperis-Procesi equations as special cases is investigated. The Kato theorem for abstract differential equations is applied to establish the local well-posedness of ...

Displacive In‐Plane Ferroelectricity with Domain‐Specific Curie Temperature in Van der Waals Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temperature‐dependent electron diffraction on tin monochalcogenides demonstrates a gradual displacive transformation between ferroelectric and paraelectric phases with significant variability in lattice constants and Curie temperature (TC). Periodic variations exist even between domains in individual crystals, implying a domain‐specific Curie ...
