Generalized Boltzmann equation for shallow water flows

open access: yes, 2003
This invited review paper introduces the Boltzmann-based approach for the numerical modelling of surface water flows to hydroinformaticians. The paper draws upon earlier work by our group as well as others.

Scalable Production of Disordered Nickel‐Iron‐Aluminum Oxides as Stable Anodes for Water Electrolysis: The Role of Aluminum

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Solution precursor plasma spraying enables the scalable fabrication of porous and disordered nickel‐iron‐aluminum oxide coatings as precious‐metal‐free anodes. Aluminum inhibits crystal growth, optimizes local atomic sites, and enhances charge and ion transport to accelerate reaction kinetics, leading to excellent performance and operational stability.

Traveling Wave Solutions of the Extended Displacement Shallow-Water Equation

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Traditionally, the shallow-water equations have been formulated and developed within the Eulerian framework for studying shallow-water wave problems.

Flow field estimation analysis based on the Kalman filter FEM for selection of tidal stream power generator locations

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2017
In this paper, we present a shallow water flow field estimation analysis, based on the Kalman filter FEM, for locating the optimal positions for tidal stream power generation systems. In our flow field analysis, we adopt the shallow water equation as the

Aberrations‐Corrected Ratiometric Parameters and PLQYs for Upconversion Thermometry in Hexagonal NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+ and NaYF4:Yb3+,Tm3+ in Micro and Nanoscale Phosphors Using Novel Integrating Sphere Setup

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Each optical system introduces aberrations in the reading of photoluminescence, which makes the signal dependant on the lab equipment. Here, a calibrated system is used to obtain the PLQYs and ratiometric parameters of popular upconverters to be used in thermometry.

Balance, gravity waves and jets in turbulent shallow water flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis contains a thorough investigation of the properties of freely decaying turbulence in a rotating shallow water layer on a sphere. A large number of simulations, covering an extensive range of Froude and Rossby numbers, have been carried out ...

Maximal physiological responses to deep and shallow water running.

open access: yes, 1999
The maximal physiological responses to treadmill running (TMR), shallow water running (SWR) and deep water running (DWR) while wearing a buoyancy vest were compared in 15 trained male runners.

Crossover From Excitonic to Bulk Emission in Metal Halide Perovskite Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A transition from excitonic to free‐charge recombination is uncovered in perovskite nanocomposites as a function of nanostructure size using PLQY(R, F) mapping as a function of excitation fluence (F) and repetition rate (R). These findings demonstrate that PLQY(R, F) mapping serves as a powerful and non‐invasive tool to extract quantitative information

Molecular Appendix Adjusted Architectural Propagations of Red‐Light Controlled Macroscopic Photoactuating Performances

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic chloroazobenzenes, bearing different amino acids as end groups alanine, phenylalanine, and valine, exhibit excellent photoisomerizations. Varying structures of three amino acid groups participate in supramolecular formations and therefore photoinduced morphological transformations via adjusting intermolecular interactions. These interaction

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.
