Reversible Hydration Tuning of Polar Order and Large Nonlinear Optical Response in a 2D van der Waals Crystal, LiInP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Hydration‐induced symmetry breaking transforms layered LiInP2S6${\rm LiInP}_2{\rm S}_6$ from a nonpolar to a chiral‐polar phase, producing a giant enhancement of non‐resonant second‐harmonic generation. The reversible tuning of polar order through molecular intercalation establishes a strategy for dynamically controlling nonlinear optical ...

AN OCEAN DEPTH-CORRECTION METHOD FOR REDUCING MODEL ERRORS IN TSUNAMI TRAVEL TIME: APPLICATION TO THE 2010 CHILE AND 2011 TOHOKU TSUNAMIS [PDF]

open access: yesScience of Tsunami Hazards, 2015
In this paper, we attempt to reduce the discrepancies between the modeled and observed tsunami arrival times. We treat the ocean as a homogenous fluid, ignoring stratification due to compressibility and variations of temperature and salinity.

Generalized Z-Grid Model for Numerical Weather Prediction

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
Z-grid finite volume models conserve all-scalar quantities as well as energy and potential enstrophy and yield better dispersion relations for shallow water equations than other finite volume models, such as C-grid and C-D grid models; however, they are ...

Charge‐Encoded Sidechains Enable Deterministic Ion Ingress and Memory Retention in Organic Electrochemical Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic electrochemical synaptic transistors based on sidechain‐engineered conjugated polyelectrolytes reveal that cationic sidechains enable efficient volumetric ion penetration and dense backbone doping, leading to enhanced transconductance and long‐term synaptic retention.

Step Soliton Generalized Solutions of the Shallow Water Equations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
Generalized solutions of the shallow water equations are obtained. One studies the particular case of a generalized soliton function passing by a variable bottom. We consider a case of discontinuity in bottom depth.

Origin of Dark Current Robustness in Photomultiplication Organic Photodetectors Enabled by Ionic Conjugated Electron‐Blocking Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conjugated polyelectrolyte electron‐blocking layers enable photomultiplication organic photodetectors with dark current robustness up to −10 V and external quantum efficiencies exceeding 3000%. Fowler–Nordheim tunneling, interfacial dipole, trap density of states, and noise analyses reveal how ionic conjugated polyelectrolytes suppress electron ...

Dynamics of an idealized fluid model for investigating convective-scale data assimilation

open access: yesTellus: Series A, Dynamic Meteorology and Oceanography, 2017
An idealized fluid model of convective-scale numerical weather prediction, intended for use in inexpensive data assimilation experiments, is described here and its distinctive dynamics are investigated.

Barrier‐Assisted Plasma Doping for Spatially Selective Resistance Engineering in MoS2 Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Barrier‐assisted NH3 plasma doping enables damage‐free, spatially selective carrier modulation in monolayer MoS2 transistors. An ultrathin pV3D3/Al2O3 protective‐dielectric stack acts as a chemical filter that allows NHx radicals to reach the MoS2 surface while blocking plasma damage. This process achieves a high electron concentration of 4.3 × 1013 cm−

Cu‐Pd Dual Single Atoms Promoting Selective CO2 Photoreduction to C2 Products in Seawater

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cu and Pd dual single atoms anchored on TiO2 cooperatively enhance C─C coupling during CO2 photoreduction in seawater. Under xenon‐light irradiation and without a sacrificial reagent/alkaline trapping agent, the catalyst achieves highly selective acetic acid formation.

Defect‐Driven Charge Separation in Ba‐Doped SrTiO3: Correlating Photoelectrochemical Performance With Dye‐Selective Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Ba‐doped SrTiO3 perovskites establish a direct correlation between photoelectrochemical activity and photocatalytic performance. Optimized Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 exhibits enhanced charge separation, photocurrent generation, and visible‐light‐driven dye degradation through defect‐induced oxygen vacancies and lattice distortion.
