Oscillatory Shannon Entropy in the Process of Equilibration of Nonequilibrium Systems

open access: yes, 2014
We present a study of the equilibration process of nonequilibrium systems by means of molecular dynamics simulation technique. The nonequilibrium conditions are achieved in systems by defining velocity components of the constituent atoms randomly.

Assembling a True “Olympic Gel” From over 16 000 Combinatorial DNA Rings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Olympic gels are an elusive class of soft matter, consisting of molecular networks held together purely by mechanically interlocked rings. Their topological structure promises unique properties and functions, but their synthesis has proven notoriously difficult.

All‐Optical Reconfigurable Physical Unclonable Function for Sustainable Security

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐optical reconfigurable physical unclonable function (PUF) is demonstrated using plasmonic coupling–induced sintering of optically trapped gold nanoparticles, where Brownian motion serves as a robust entropy source. The resulting optical PUF exhibits high encoding density, strong resistance to modeling attacks, and practical authentication ...

Configuration Complexities of Hydrogenic Atoms

open access: yes, 2009
The Fisher-Shannon and Cramer-Rao information measures, and the LMC-like or shape complexity (i.e., the disequilibrium times the Shannon entropic power) of hydrogenic stationary states are investigated in both position and momentum spaces.

Bioelectrical Interfaces Beyond Excitable Cells: Cancer, Aging, and Gene Expression Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The investigation of biological conductivity has evolved from its classical foundation based on ionic fluxes underpinning cardiac and neuronal excitability to a multifaceted regulator of cellular physiology. Traditional approaches for probing electrical events in living matter focused largely on action potentials recording.

Equivalence of Two Proof Techniques for Non-Shannon-type Inequalities

open access: yes, 2013
We compare two different techniques for proving non-Shannon-type information inequalities. The first one is the original Zhang-Yeung's method, commonly referred to as the copy/pasting lemma/trick.

Cap‐oPMN: Oral Inflammatory Load Quantification Using Capillary Microfluidics and Automated Image Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quantifying oral polymorphonuclear neutrophils (oPMNs) is a clinically validated approach for assessing periodontal inflammation. However, current methods, such as manual hemocytometry and flow cytometry, are time‐consuming (>3 h), require invasive sampling, and depend on staining and complex instrumentation, making them unsuitable for point ...

A synthetic data-driven machine learning approach for athlete performance attenuation prediction

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living
IntroductionAthlete performance monitoring is effective for optimizing training strategies and preventing injuries. However, applying machine learning (ML) frameworks to this domain remains challenging due to data scarcity limitations. This study extends
