Relations Between Conditional Shannon Entropy and Expectation of $\ell_{\alpha}$-Norm

open access: yes, 2016
The paper examines relationships between the conditional Shannon entropy and the expectation of $\ell_{\alpha}$-norm for joint probability distributions.

Unveiling Global Diversity of Patescibacteriota and Functional Interactions with Host Microbes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Patescibacteriota represents a diverse group of ultra‐small epibiotic bacteria, which is largely overlooked. By integrating ribosomal protein S3‐based community profiling with MAG‐based metabolic potential analyses, this study provides new insights into their distribution, diversity, and potential interactions with other bacteria across diverse ...

Black Hole Entropy: From Shannon to Bekenstein

open access: yes, 2011
In this note we have applied directly the Shannon formula for information theory entropy to derive the Black Hole (Bekenstein-Hawking) entropy. Our analysis is semi-classical in nature since we use the (recently proposed [8]) quantum mechanical near ...

Elemene Augments the Effects of Anti‐PD‐1 Immunotherapy on Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Regulating the miR‐130a‐5p/SPP/MHC‐I Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Elemene increases SPP expression by competitively binding with miR‐130a‐5p to suppress SPP mRNA degradation. This led to more antigen/MHC‐I complexes being expressed on the cell surface, which consequently facilitated the recognition and killing of HCC cells by CTLs and enhancing the antitumor immune efficacy of anti‐PD‐1.

Conceptual Inadequacy of the Shore and Johnson Axioms for Wide Classes of Complex Systems

open access: yes, 2015
It is by now well known that the Boltzmann-Gibbs-von Neumann-Shannon logarithmic entropic functional ($S_{BG}$) is inadequate for wide classes of strongly correlated systems: see for instance the 2001 Brukner and Zeilinger's {\it Conceptual inadequacy of

Extracellular Vesicles of Streptococcus anginosus Mediate Gastritis via Epithelial Barrier Disruption and Macrophage‐driven Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Streptococcus anginosus extracellular vesicles (SA‐EVs) accumulate in gastric tissue, disrupt epithelial tight junctions, and induce gastritis characterized by neutrophil infiltration and elevated cytokines (TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐17A). Proteomics identifies TMPC and FBP62 as key SA‐EVs virulence factors; their genetic deletion attenuates inflammation ...

Effect of Screw Configuration on the Recyclability of Natural Fiber-Based Composites

open access: yesFibers
The burgeoning crisis of plastic waste accumulation necessitates innovative approaches towards sustainable packaging solutions. Polylactic acid (PLA), a leading biopolymer, emerges as a promising candidate in this realm, especially for environmentally ...

METTL5 Enables Immune Evasion of Liver Cancer via Chemokine mRNA Translation Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
METTL5 reshapes the tumor immune microenvironment through ribosome 18S rRNA m6A modification to regulate the translation of chemokine mRNA. Targeting METTL5‐mediated immunosuppression unleashes anti‐tumor immunity and improves the efficacy of anti‐PD‐1 therapy.
