Symmetry and Shape Coexistence in 10Be [PDF]
Within the low-lying spectrum of 10Be, multiple rotational bands are found, with strikingly different moments of inertia. A proposed interpretation has been that these bands variously represent triaxial rotation and prolate axially-deformed rotation. The bands are well-reproduced in ab initio no-core configuration interaction (NCCI) calculations.

To Shell Model, or Not to Shell Model, That Is the Question
The present review takes steps from the domain of the shell model into open shell nuclei. The question posed in the title is to dramatize how far shell model approaches, i.e., many nucleons occupying independent-particle configurations and interacting ...

Local patterns of species coexistence across scales could determine the shape of species-area relationships. Here the authors apply a structuralist approach to empirical data on annual plant communities to assess how species interactions shape ...

Theoretical Description of Energy Spectra and Quadrupole Transition Probabilities of 190 Hg
In this paper, we have considered thecoexistence of two quite different structures, the deformed and sphericalshapes in 190Hg nucleus. To this aim, we have determined the energyspectra and quadrupole transition probabilities of this nucleus.

Shape coexistence in 94Zr studied via Coulomb excitation [PDF]
In recent years, a number of both theoretical and experimental investigations have been performed focusing on the zirconium isotopic chain. In particular, state-of-the-art Monte Carlo shell-model calculations predict shape coexistence in these isotopes ...

Reassigning the shapes of the 0+ states in the 186Pb nucleus
The authors study an interesting phenomena of shape coexistence in 186Pb. In an elegant and well-documented experiment, they confirm the coexistence of the three 0+ states in the 186Pb nucleus and reassign the shapes associated with the excited 0+ states.

Shape Coexistence In Light Krypton Isotopes [PDF]
Coexisting states of prolate and oblate shapes were studied via Coulomb excitation of radioactive 74Kr and 76Kr beams at safe energies at GANIL. The results for the transitional E2 matrix elements for several yrast transitions in both isotopes are in contradiction with the B(E2) values extracted from the lifetimes that are found in the literature. Two-particle transfer processes as a signature of shape phase transition in Zirconium isotopes
We explore two-particle transfer reactions as a crucial probe of the occurrence of shape coexistence in shape phase transitions. The (t,p) reactions to the ground state and to excited 0+ states are calculated for the isotope chain of even-even Zirconium ...
