Shape Retrieval With Geometrically Characterized Contour Partitions
This paper proposes a new computational method for retrieving shapes under unpredictable conditions such as when occlusion, geometric distortion, and differences in image resolution occur simultaneously.

Marine-Hydraulic-Oil-Particle Contaminant Identification Study Based on OpenCV
Particulate pollutants mixed in hydraulic oil will lead to the failure of the marine hydraulic system. Nowadays, the current identification methods of particulate pollutants in oil make it challenging to obtain the specific parameters of pollutants.

Real time hand gesture recognition including hand segmentation and tracking [PDF]
In this paper we present a system that performs automatic gesture recognition. The system consists of two main components: (i) A unified technique for segmentation and tracking of face and hands using a skin detection algorithm along with handling ...

Distance sets for shape filters and shape recognition [PDF]
We introduce a novel rich local descriptor of an image point, we call the (labeled) distance set, which is determined by the spatial arrangement of image features around that point. We describe a two-dimensional (2D) visual object by the set of (labeled) distance sets associated with the feature points of that object.

Shape-based recognition of wiry objects [PDF]
We present an approach to the recognition of complexshaped objects in cluttered environments based on edge cues. We first use example images of the desired object in typical backgrounds to train a classifier cascade which determines whether edge pixels in an image belong to an instance of the object or the clutter.

The Pascal Triangle of a Discrete Image: Definition, Properties and Application to Shape Analysis
We define the Pascal triangle of a discrete (gray scale) image as a pyramidal arrangement of complex-valued moments and we explore its geometric significance.

Word shape analysis for a hybrid recognition system [PDF]
This paper describes two wholistic recognizers developed for use in a hybrid recognition system. The recognizers use information about the word shape. This information is strongly related to word zoning.

Supramolecular and Liquid Crystalline Contributions to the Assembly of Myofibril
We compare steps observed during the fibrillogenesis of myofibrils with the sequence of steps predictable by a recent analysis of the structurization and functioning of striated muscles.

BodySpace: inferring body pose for natural control of a music player [PDF]
We describe the BodySpace system, which uses inertial sensing and pattern recognition to allow the gestural control of a music player by placing the device at different parts of the body.

Shape retrieval by using multi-scale angle-based representation and dynamic label propagation
To improve the robustness and discrimination power of the triangle-area representation, a novel shape matching method based on multi-scale angle representation is proposed in this study.
