Comparing Baseline Shapley and Integrated Gradients for Local Explanation: Some Additional Insights

open access: yesCoRR, 2022
There are many different methods in the literature for local explanation of machine learning results. However, the methods differ in their approaches and often do not provide same explanations. In this paper, we consider two recent methods: Integrated Gradients (Sundararajan, Taly, & Yan, 2017) and Baseline Shapley (Sundararajan and Najmi, 2020 ...

Integrating Machine Learning With Constant‐Potential Simulation to Unravel Charge‐Transfer Mechanisms in Electrochemical Nitrogen Fixation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrating interpretable machine learning with the fixed‐potential method reveals a novel mechanism: the catalytic activity of the electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction is governed by partial charge transfer, induced by variations in the intermediate potential of zero charge under constant potential.

CauFinder: Steering Cell‐State and Phenotype Transitions by Causal Disentanglement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CauFinder combines causal disentanglement modeling and network control to prioritize causal drivers of cell‐state transitions from observational transcriptomic data. The framework separates transition‐relevant signals from spurious associations, nominates intervention targets across biological and disease contexts, and identifies DAAM1 as an actionable
