Transforming Care Across Countries: Lessons from the Integrated Care Networks for Parkinson's Disease Study (iCARE‐PD)

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The optimal design for care delivery in Parkinson's disease (PD) that addresses changing needs of the lived experience is unclear. There is a critical need for care models to be implemented and transferable across diverse healthcare systems with agility.

Trans-Ancestry Analysis of Psychosis Biotypes: Shared Polygenic Risk and Unique Genomic Associations

open access: yes
Abstract The Bipolar-Schizophrenia Network for Intermediate Phenotypes (B-SNIP) has categorized psychosis disorders (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder and Bipolar Disorder) into three distinct Biotypes, based on neurobiological measurements in a multi-ancestry sample.

Bipolar Disorder as a Long‐Term Risk Factor for Parkinson's Disease: A Nationwide Case–Control Study

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Previous studies suggest an association between bipolar disorder (BD) and an increased risk of Parkinson's disease (PD), but the long‐term temporal relationship remains unclear. Particularly, it is unclear whether the risk of PD is influenced by the duration since BD diagnosis.

Visuo-spatial processing and dimensions of schizotypy: figure-ground segregation as a function of psychotic-like features [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The aim of the reported study was to determine whether the ability to segregate a simple figure embedded in a complex visual ground, was associated with psychotic-like features in a sample of undergraduate students.

Rehabilitation needs of long COVID patients in British Columbia

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction COVID‐19 can result in persistent symptoms and functional impairment that significantly impact daily functioning, highlighting the need for targeted rehabilitation. However, there is a lack of data on what proportion of long COVID patients need rehabilitation and which types are required.

Spatial and functional profiles distinguish target sets of Parkinson’s disease and antipsychotic drugs with different clinical effects

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry
Several studies have examined the genetic factors shared between Parkinson’s disease (PD) and schizophrenia (SZ), but the biological themes underlying their clinical relationships remain less explored.

A Participatory Approach to Enhance Screening System for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder in Critical Care Settings

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are common obstetric complications. Caregivers of infants in neonatal intensive care units and those visiting paediatric emergency departments experience a significantly higher risk of these disorders, with up to 45% screening positive for depressive symptoms in the neonatal intensive care unit and 27% in ...

TULP4, a novel E3 ligase gene, participates in neuronal migration as a candidate in schizophrenia

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, EarlyView., 2023
Mutations identified from four SCZ pedigrees resulted in decreased TULP4 expression. Tulp4 knockdown caused delayed neuron migration in embryonic mice, and impaired cognition and prepulse inhibition in adult mice. These phenotypes may be related to TULP4 through its involvement in the formation of a novel E3 ubiquitin ligases.

Glucose dysregulation in antipsychotic-naive first-episode psychosis: in silico exploration of gene expression signatures

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry
Antipsychotic (AP)-naive first-episode psychosis (FEP) patients display early dysglycemia, including insulin resistance and prediabetes. Metabolic dysregulation may therefore be intrinsic to psychosis spectrum disorders (PSDs), independent of the ...
