Acoustic metalens with switchable and sharp focusing
Applied Physics Express, 2023Abstract Sharp and tunable focusing functionality is highly desired in various acoustic application fields. Here, we propose a simply structured metalens for water-borne sounds with a switchable focusing functionality. Each meta-atom in the lens is composed of two elliptical iron cylinders, and is smartly designed so that it can redirect

Analysis of polarisation states at sharp focusing
Optik, 2016Abstract We investigate the inter-relation of the phase and polarisation singularities in systems with high numerical aperture. We consider sharp focusing by means of three types of systems: a micro-objective, a diffractive axicon and a micro-objective combined with an axicon-type multichannel diffractive optical element.

Polarization conversion at sharp focusing of vector vortex beams
2017 19th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2017We demonstrate the conversion of cylindrically polarized laser beams in an orthogonal polarization state by introducing a high-order vortex phase singularity. Our theoretical and experimental investigations show that increasing the order of the phase singularity leads to effective generation of azimuthal polarization from radial polarization.

A Microchannel With Repeated Sharp Corners for Single Stream Particle Focusing
A new microfluidic device for fast and high throughput microparticle focusing is reported. The particle focusing is based on the combination of inertial lift force effect and centrifugal force effect generated in a microchannel with a series of repeated sharp corners on one side of the channel wall.

Focusing optical waves with a rotationally symmetric sharp-edge aperture
Optics Communications, 2018Abstract While there has been various kinds of patterned structures proposed for wave focusing, these patterned structures usually involve complicated lithographic techniques since the element size of the patterned structures should be precisely controlled in microscale or even nanoscale.
