Phenomena of Blowup and Global Existence of the Solution to a Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We consider the following Cauchy problem: -iut=Δu-V(x)u+f(x,|u|2)u+(W(x)⋆|u|2)u, x∈ℝN,t>0, u(x, 0)=u0(x),x∈ℝN, where V(x) and W(x) are real-valued potentials and V(x)≥0 and W(x) is even, f(x,|u|2) is measurable in x and continuous in |u|2, and u0(x) is a

Heterogeneity in the use of biologics for severe asthma in Europe: a SHARP ERS study

open access: yesERJ Open Research, 2022
Introduction Treatment with biologics for severe asthma is informed by international and national guidelines and defined by national regulating bodies, but how these drugs are used in real-life is unknown.

A sharp threshold for disease persistence in host metapopulations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Dynamics, 2007
A sharp threshold is established that separates disease persistence from the extinction of small disease outbreaks in an S→E→I→R→S type metapopulation model. The travel rates between patches depend on disease prevalence. The threshold is formulated in terms of a basic replacement ratio (disease reproduction number), ℛ(0), and, equivalently, in terms of

Theory of chiral edge state lasing in a two-dimensional topological system

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2019
We theoretically study topological laser operation in a bosonic Harper-Hofstadter model featuring a saturable optical gain. Crucial consequences of the chirality of the lasing edge modes are highlighted, such as a sharp dependence of the lasing threshold

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Sharp thresholds and the partition function

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2013
Let Φ be a random k-CNF formula over n variables with clauses and let Z(Φ) be the number of satisfying assignments. Assume that k is sufficiently large and that r ≤ (1 − ok(1))2k ln(k)/k, where ok(1) denotes a certain function that tends to 0 as k gets large. We prove that in this case, Φ is satisfiable with probability 1 − O(1/n).

Hypercontractivity for global functions and sharp thresholds

open access: yesJournal of the American Mathematical Society, 2023
The classical hypercontractive inequality for the noise operator on the discrete cube plays a crucial role in many of the fundamental results in the Analysis of Boolean functions, such as the Kahn-Kalai-Linial theorem, Friedgut’s junta theorem and the invariance principle of Mossel, O’Donnell and Oleszkiewicz.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.
