Crack bifurcation in sharp V-notches
Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, 2020Abstract In this paper, the crack initiation angle is studied experimentally and theoretically in sharp V-notched specimens subjected to mode I loading. Some experiments are performed on the V-notched compact tension (CT) and double cantilever beam (DCB) specimens made of polymethylmetacrylate (PMMA) with two different notch opening angles.

A fracture criterion for sharp V-notched samples
International Journal of Fracture, 2003The objective of this paper is to show the advantages of the cohesivecrack model for predicting fracture of V-notched components. Criticalvalues of the generalized stress intensity factor can be obtained fromthe knowledge of the material softening function and the elastic parameters,avoiding a cumbersome experimental work.
