A general weight function for inclined cracks at sharp V-notches

Abstract A general method for evaluating the Stress Intensity Factors of an inclined edge crack originated at the tip of a sharp V -notch in a semiplane is presented. An analytical Weight Function with a matrix structure was derived by extending a method developed for an inclined edge crack in an unnotched semi-plane.

Influence of the V-Notch Opening Angle on Critical Applied Force Values for the Crack Initiation from the Sharp V-Notch

The aim of this paper is to estimate a value of the critical applied force for a crack initiation from the sharp V-notch tip. The classical approach of the linear elastic fracture mechanics (LELM) was generalized, because the stress singularity exponent differs from 0.5 in studied case.

This study reports on an experimental investigation on laminar jets discharging from V-notched nozzles of different relative sharpness. Each nozzle consists of two smooth peaks and two sharp troughs and its sharpness is defined by the aspect ratio (AR) of the half ellipses which make up each half of the V-notch.
