Fatigue design methods of structures are based on either maximum values or the stress field near the shape change. The former is usually applied when the change of shape has a fillet-radius and relies on a stress concentration and a notch sensitivity factor (1). The Latter is used for cracks with a zero bottom radius and a small opening angle (2).
