Investigation on the failure evolution characteristics of surrounding rock in deep cross‐fault roadway: Based on physical model test and numerical simulation

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study reveals the failure evolution characteristics of deep cross‐fault roadway surrounding rock under excavation support and periodic weighting. Periodic weighting readily induces fault activation, with the spatial distribution of failed rock masses being controlled by the fault strike and dip.

Recent Advances in Pickering Emulsion Templated Phase Change Material Microcapsules: Design, Fabrication, and Multifunctional Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Fabrication process of phase change microcapsules using a Pickering emulsion template method and their subsequent applications. The increasing demand for efficient thermal energy storage systems has driven the development of phase change material microcapsules (PCMMs), which provide high energy‐storage density, reversible phase change, and reduced ...

Velocities of compressional and shear waves in limestones

Geophysical Prospecting, 2003
Carbonate rocks are important hydrocarbon reservoir rocks with complex textures and petrophysical properties (porosity and permeability) mainly resulting from various diagenetic processes (compaction, dissolution, precipitation, cementation, etc.). These complexities make prediction of reservoir characteristics (e.g.

Shear‐wave velocity estimation

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1993, 1993
Shear-wave velocity estimation from principally porosity, clay content and compressional velocity has been widely studied by different authors for different core samples. When comparing the results of the velocity estimated with those laws and the velocity measured on core or with sonic logs and seismic data, discrepancies are often seen.

A further comparison of shear-wave velocities

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1982
In a previous paper by the same authors the values of the shear-wave velocity in natural soils found from laboratory tests were compared with wave velocities measured in situ. Dynamic free-vibration torsion tests were carried out in the laboratory on undisturbed 150 × 75 mm soil samples. Downhole seismic tests were performed at the site to measure the

Estimation of seabed shear-wave velocity profiles using shear-wave source data

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013
This paper estimates seabed shear-wave velocity profiles and their uncertainties using interface-wave dispersion curves extracted from data generated by a shear-wave source. The shear-wave source generated a seismic signature over a frequency range between 2 and 60 Hz and was polarized in both in-line and cross-line orientations. Low-frequency Scholte-
