A Review of Selected Solutions on the Evaluation of Coal-Rock Cutting Performances of Shearer Picks under Complex Geological Conditions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
During automatic and intelligent cutting at the coal mining face, complex geological conditions (fold structure, fault structure and magmatic intrusion) easily cause distinct occurrence conditions of coal rock seams (gangue, inclusion, or fault in the ...

Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

Shear flow induced isotropic to nematic transition in a suspension of active filaments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We study the effects of externally applied shear flow on a model of suspensions of motors and filaments, via the equations of active hydrodynamics [PRL {\bf 89} (2002) 058101; {\bf 92} (2004) 118101].

The shear behavior of Anchored CFRP Strengthened RC beams

open access: yesMagazine of Civil Engineering, 2022
The primary objective of this paper is to study the effectiveness of anchorage on the performance of shear deficient beams externally strengthened with carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP) composites. The overall behavior of the tested beams loaded up

A New Shear Estimator for Weak Lensing Observations

open access: yes, 1999
We present a new shear estimator for weak lensing observations which properly accounts for the effects of a realistic point spread function (PSF). Images of faint galaxies are subject to gravitational shearing followed by smearing with the instrumental ...

Universality of shear-banding instability and crystallization in sheared granular fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The linear stability analysis of an uniform shear flow of granular materials is revisited using several cases of a Navier-Stokes'-level constitutive model in which we incorporate the global equation of states for pressure and thermal conductivity (which ...

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

SHEAR CAPACITY OF SUSTAINABLE LIGHT WEIGHT CONCRETE BEAMS

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2021
This Lightweight concrete is one of the important types familiar of concrete, as the local stone Attapulgite was used as aggregate after treating it with a solution of minors, then it was used in pouring five -reinforced concrete beams by adding steel ...

Depictions of childhood in South African autobiography, with particular reference to the 1920s [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
African Studies Seminar series. Paper presented May 1988If we wish to gain a better understanding of a particular period in South Africa's history, it is not sufficient merely to study that period, and the people who lived through it, in isolation; we ...
