Study on the Shear Band of Sand with Various Particle Characteristics Using PIV Analysis [PDF]
The phenomenon of ground undergoing large plastic deformation, leading to collapse, occurs due to the localization of unstable deformation. The investigation of shear band is important in order to understand the destructive phenomenon.

Predicting Plastic Deformation and Work Hardening during V-Band Formation [PDF]
V-Band Clamps are manufactured using a cold roll forming process consisting of six passes which plastically deform an initially flat strip by bending to produce the band’s V-section.

Multiscale analyses of failure pattern transition in high-porosity sandstones
High-porosity sandstones are important host rocks for hydrocarbon and groundwater reservoirs. It is of significance to investigate their failure pattern transitions under different loading conditions.

A Constitutive Model for Locally Drained Shear Bands in Globally Undrained Dense Sand [PDF]
When saturated granular materials which are dilative in nature are subjected to the undrained deformation, their strength increases due to the generation of negative excess pore pressure.

The Size Effect of Shear Bands in Dense Sands—A Discrete Element Analysis
The localization of deformation in shear bands is a fundamental phenomenon in granular materials like soil. In this study, we focus on the characteristics of shear bands, particularly the size effect, by implementing biaxial discrete element method (DEM)

Evolution of Adiabatic Shear Band in Ultra-Fine-Grained Iron under Dynamic Shear Loading
Ultra-fine-grained (UFG)/Nanocrystalline (NC) materials usually show reduced strain hardening and limited ductility due to formation of adiabatic shear band (ASB) under dynamic loading. In the present study, evolution of ASB in UFG Fe under dynamic shear

Hidden spatiotemporal sequence in transition to shear band in amorphous solids
Localization of plastic flow into a narrow shear band is a fundamental and ubiquitous nonequilibrium phenomenon in amorphous solids. Because of the intrinsic entangling of three types of elementary local atomic motion—shear, dilatation, and rotation—the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
