Reversible Rail Shear Apparatus Applied to the Study of Woven Laminate Shear Behavior [PDF]
The multitude of in-plane shear tests existing in the literature seems to demonstrate the complexity of developing a test adapted to all experimental works.

Shear behavior of a shear thickening fluid-impregnated aramid fabrics at high shear rate [PDF]
Shear-thickening fluid-impregnated aramid (STF-im-AR) fabrics have been manufactured for advanced soft body armor applications for which they provide improved ballistic and stab resistances. It is not yet clear whether or not such improvements can be attributed solely to the STF.

Stretching of polymers in a random three-dimensional flow
Behavior of a dilute polymer solution in a random three-dimensional flow with an average shear is studied experimentally. Polymer contribution to the shear stress is found to be more than two orders of magnitude higher than in a laminar shear flow.

Shear localization in a model glass
Using molecular dynamics simulations, we show that a simple model of a glassy material exhibits the shear localization phenomenon observed in many complex fluids. At low shear rates, the system separates into a fluidized shear-band and an unsheared part.

Nanoscale simple-fluid behavior under steady shear
In this study, we use two nonequilibrium molecular dynamics algorithms, boundary-driven shear and homogeneous shear, to explore the rheology and flow properties of a simple fluid undergoing steady simple shear. The two distinct algorithms are designed to elucidate the influences of nanoscale confinement. The results of rheological material functions, i.

Shear strength analysis of concrete beams reinforced with GFRP bars using strut and tie model [PDF]
This dissertation presents an experimental investigation on the behavior and ultimate shear strength of reinforced concrete beam. Sixteen reinforced concrete beams was design and tested to failure. This study consists of two series of beams, which are

Viscoelastic Properties of Dynamically Asymmetric Binary Fluids Under Shear Flow [PDF]
We study theoretically the viscoelastic properties of sheared binary fluids that have strong dynamical asymmetry between the two components. The dynamical asymmetry arises due to asymmetry between the viscoelastic stresses, particularly the bulk stress ...
