Tensile and shear bond strengths of orthodontic direct-bonding adhesives
Dental Materials, 1988Abstract Bond strength and durability of 6 direct-bonding orthodontic cements, including 2 newly developed materials, one a 4-META/MMA resin and the other a chemically and lightcured microfilled resin, were investigated in vitro . The necessity of a sealant resin was also examined. The facial surfaces of extracted bovine teeth were ground on silicon-

The shear strength of enamel — composite bonds
Journal of Dentistry, 1977Abstract The shear bond strengths of several commercial materials to etched enamel were evaluated using a modified punch test. An overall significant difference between the bond strength values for the composites was established. Increasing the punch speed was observed to have a detrimental effect on shear bond strength, and investigations into ...

Dentin shear bond strength of compomers and composites
Dental Materials, 2000The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strengths and fracture characteristics of two compomers bonded with a single step bonding agent with two modern composites, a microfil and hybrid, bonded with a fourth generation bonding agent.Freshly extracted human third molars were sectioned parallel to the occlusal surface to expose midcoronal ...

Shear bond strength of an experimental composite bracket
Journal of Orofacial Orthopedics / Fortschritte der Kieferorthopädie, 2013The in vitro shear bond strength of MZ100 brackets (an experimental composite bracket developed by the Dental Biomaterial Laboratory at Boston University) and the effect of different treatment methods on these brackets were evaluated. As the bonding substrates, 80 Vitablocs® Mark II (Vident, Brea, CA, USA) were chosen.

Shear bond strength of metal-ceramic repair systems
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2006When clinical fractures of the ceramic veneer on metal-ceramic prostheses can be repaired, the need for remake may be eliminated or postponed. Many different ceramic repair materials are available, and bond strength data are necessary for predicting the success of a given repair system. This study evaluated the shear bond strength of different repair ...

Shear peel bond strengths of esthetic orthodontic brackets
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1992Anecdotal reports of bracket fracture and tooth damage associated with the use of certain esthetic orthodontic brackets have been reported in the literature. With the advent of new esthetic orthodontic brackets, the need has arisen to test the claims of the manufacturers.

Shear strength of ceramic brackets bonded to porcelain
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1994The purpose of this study was to compare the bond strengths of three different adhesive systems when used alone and combined with a porcelain priming agent to bond ceramic brackets to porcelain surfaces. Sixty porcelain specimens were randomly assigned to the six different treatment groups.

Shear strengths of ten commercial dentin bonding agents
Dental Materials, 1987Abstract Numerous chemical agents have recently been introduced for the purpose of bonding composite resins to dentin. This in vitro study examined the shear bond strength of 10 dentin bonding agents which are commercially available. The bonding agents were used to attach a visible-light-curing microfilled composite resin (Silux) to extracted human ...

Shear bond strengths of ten dentin adhesive systems
Dental Materials, 1992This in vitro study tested the shear bond strengths of nine third-generation dentin bonding systems. All of these systems had higher bond strengths than the control, a second-generation agent. Amalgambond and All-Bond had the strongest bonds to dentin, 23.3 +/- 5.7 and 19.3 +/- 5.6 MPa, respectively.

Shear bond strength of silicoated bonded orthodontic attachments.
The Journal of the Dental Association of South Africa = Die Tydskrif van die Tandheelkundige Vereniging van Suid-Afrika, 1992The shear bond strength of bonded orthodontic attachments, coated with a silicon oxide layer to enhance adhesion, was tested and compared to that of untreated attachments. Twenty buttons for direct bonding (test group) were "silicoated" and bonded to surgically removed, unerupted human third molars, using "Right-On" adhesive.
