Quantification of Direct Benefits of Functional Recovery‐Based Design for Seismic Resilience
Lessons from recent major earthquakes have shown that current life‐safety‐centered seismic design practice falls short in ensuring a desirable post‐hazard recovery. Extensive economic losses, high demolition rates, and long recovery have signified a gap between design targets and society's expectations of seismic performance of code‐compliant buildings.

This study investigates the performance of a tuned mass damper inerter (TMDI) in enhancing the seismic performance of structures by focusing on the concept of effective damping ratio (EDR) and its enhancement through the effective damping ratio enhancement (EDRE) approach. An analytical model is developed for a single‐degree‐of‐freedom system subjected

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a progressive degenerative disease causing pain, muscle weakness, and functional decline, particularly in postmenopausal women. While closed kinetic chain (CKC) exercises are effective for rehabilitation, the comparative efficacy of aquatic‐ versus land‐based environments for these exercises ...
