Shear Lag in Reinforced Concrete T-Beams with Web Openings [PDF]
In this paper, an extensive study is carried out 18 beams on the behavior of T-beams (8 with web openings, 10 without openings). Compressive strains distribution at the flanged are investigated with the presence of the openings in web to recheck the ...

Bend Propagation by a Sliding Filament Model for Flagella [PDF]
1. If active sliding occurs between flagellar filaments, as suggested for the sliding filament mechanism for muscular contraction, it will generate positive bending in one direction along the flagellum and negative bending in the opposite direction ...

Strong-field tidal distortions of rotating black holes: II. Horizon dynamics from eccentric and inclined orbits [PDF]
In a previous paper, we developed tools for studying the horizon geometry of a Kerr black hole that is tidally distorted by a binary companion using techniques that require large mass ratios but can be applied to any bound orbit and allow for arbitrary ...

A hydrogel with dynamic cross‐links was formed by cross‐linking hyaluronic acid with curcumin‐preloaded, phenylboronic acid‐modified poly(amidoamine) dendrimers. This hydrogel exhibited excellent injectability and self‐healing ability, enabling controlled Cur release in response to low pH, high reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, or mechanical ...

A New System for Tall Buildings Combining a Tubular System, Trusses and Steel Shear Walls [PDF]
In high-rise buildings, by increasing the number of floors, designers are forced to use the tubular system or to combine it with other systems. The “shear lag” phenomenon and also architectural problems due to the low distance between the columns are ...

We report a versatile nanoclay gel carrier platform that enhances the osteogenic efficacy of demineralized bone matrix (DBM) by integrating nanoclay‐based self‐assembly with cell‐derived exosome mimetics loaded with noggin‐targeting miR‐200c. This design amplifies BMP signaling, thereby promoting DBM‐mediated osteogenesis and offering a promising ...

Microrheological Characterisation of Anisotropic Materials
We describe the measurement of anisotropic viscoelastic moduli in complex soft materials, such as biopolymer gels, via video particle tracking microrheology of colloid tracer particles.

Quantitative sensitivity analysis of surface attached optical fiber strain sensor [PDF]
Optical fiber strain sensors, in particular, the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) type, are widely applied in different applications. The most common installation method is surface-attached.

Curvature‐Tuned Friction at Electrified Ionic Liquid Interfaces
Graphene curvature plays a key role in friction electrotunability at single‐asperity contacts lubricated by ionic liquids. A 9 nm radius yields stronger tunability than larger radii, with distinct friction coefficients at low and high loads indicating a shift in the slippage plane.

A Shear Lag Analysis for Composite Box Girders with Deformable Connectors
A method is proposed for shear lag analysis which can be applied to steel-concrete composite box girders. The proposed method uses harmonic analysis and allows the determination of shear lag effects from simple calculations so that the method is regarded
