Shear-Lag Effects in Three-Span Continuous Box Girder

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
The physical explanation of shear lag is given in this paper. The shear lag effects can be attributed to the abrupt change of shear stress at web-flange junction. The abrupt change at the junction of shear stresses changes the magnitude of the flange bending stresses, which attenuates gradually with increasing distances from the web.

Shear Lag Micromechanics Model for Effective Properties of Piezoelectric Composites

AIAA Journal, 2005
Prediction of the effective properties of piezoelectric composites with the help of shear lag micromechanics model is discussed. The shear lag micromechanics model is derived by considering a representative volume of the composite that contains a piezoelectric inclusion. Both homogeneous and heterogeneous inclusion problems are considered.

Shear-lag effects in composite beams with flexible connection

1997

Shear-lag effect in prestressed twin-girder composite decks

2000
A theoretical model for the time dependent analysis of the shear-lag effect in twin-girder steel-concrete composite decks with flexible shear connection is proposed to account for the following prestressing techniques: settlement of supports, cables inside the concrete slab and external slipping tendons.

Shear-lag effect in prestressed composite twin-girder decks

2002
The shear lag effect in composite twin-girder decks is analysed by considering the main prestressing techniques, namely support settlements, cables inside the concrete slab and external slipping cables. The theoretical model, which includes concrete creep behaviour and the shear connection flexibility, describes the non-uniform stress distribution on ...
