Improved high-order bending analysis of double curved sandwich panels subjected to multiple loading conditions

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
For the first time, the bending analysis of a double curved sandwich panel was presented which was subjected to point load, uniform distributed load on a patch, and harmonic distributed loads and was based on a new improved higher order sandwich panel ...

Vibration analysis of porous orthotropic cylindrical panels resting on elastic foundations based on shear deformation theory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, 2023
Cylindrical panels are one of the most essential structural members of engineering structures, with mechanical, civil, aeronautical, and marine engineering applications. They are subjected to a wide range of vibrational loads. This article presents a novel higher-order porosity distribution and a free vibration analysis for porous orthotropic ...

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Dynamic Stability of Moderately Thick Composite Laminated Skew Plates using Finite Strip Method [PDF]

open access: yesMechanics of Advanced Composite Structures, 2015
The dynamic instability regions of composite laminated skew flat plates subjected to uniform in-plane axial end-loading are investigated. The in-plane loading is assumed as a combination of a time-invariant component and a harmonic time-varying component

Sound Enhancement of Orthotropic Sound Radiation Plates Using Line Loads and Considering Resonance Characteristics

open access: yesAcoustics, 2021
A new vibro-acoustic method is presented to analyze the sound radiation behavior of orthotropic panel-form sound radiators using strip-type exciters to exert line loads to the panels for sound radiation.

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...
