Investigating shear performance of PMCS

2023
Understanding the shear performance of polymer matrix composites (PMCs) using a multiscale methodology requires novel in situ experimental techniques at each length scale. One limitation of the multiscale paradigm is inadequate experimentation at the microscale. In addition, limited investigation exists at the mesoscale to understand progressive damage

Flexural and shear performance of HFRC beams

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021
Abstract This paper describes the load bearing capacity prediction of two different types of fibres in Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams exposed to bending loads. A two-point test in a loading frame was conducted under static loading to examine the flexural and shear performance of Hybrid Fibre Reinforced Concrete (HFRC) beams in the preparation of ...

Performance Evaluation of Composite Shear Wall

2020
Shear wall systems are one of the most commonly used lateral load resisting systems in high-rise buildings. Composite shear walls are a combination of steel and concrete sections, which unites the advantages of steel and concrete shear wall systems. The encased composite shear wall system studied here consists of stiffened steel sheets, shear studs ...

Analysis and performance of a shear-wave magnetometer

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1993
Abstract A detailed analysis of the response of a shear-wave magnetometer to applied magnetic field and temperature is presented. This facilitates the identification of dominant sources of noise. It is shown both theoretically and experimentally that a scheme of phase feedback significantly reduces the effect of temperature on the system.

Foamed bitumen mixes = shear performance?

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2007
Road rehabilitation technology is currently under the global spotlight. Considering that cold bituminous binders, e.g. emulsion and foamed bitumen, have become more commonly used in cold recycling operations, there is a need to understand the performance properties of these materials.

MIXING PERFORMANCE OF HIGH SHEAR IMPELLERS

Chemical Engineering Communications, 1982
Abstract The characteristics of a high shear impeller, the TURBON mixer, have been extensively investigated. The correlating equation for power requirement of this mixer with three types of impeller has been obtained for a liquid single phase and a gas-liquid two-phase system.

Performance and Strength of Welded Shear Studs

Composite Construction in Steel and Concrete IV, 2002
The behavior and strength of welded shear studs are subjects of ongoing study. A description of the formulation of the American Institute of Steel Construction specification provisions for the strength of shear studs is given. The behavior of shear studs as influenced by friction, position of studs in steel deck and stud properties is described.

The Performance of Epoxy-Coated Shear Reinforcement

ACI Structural Journal, 1996
This paper examines the performance of epoxy-coated stirrups in reinforced concrete beams under bending and shear. A review of previous studies in bond and detailing of stirrups is provided. The results of an experimental program are described. From these results, several conclusions are reached, supported by ultimate failure load, deflection, stirrup ...
