Effect of Static Shear on Resistance to Liquefaction

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 1983
ABSTRACT The influence of static shear on undrained cyclic loading behaviour of Ottawa sand has been studied using triaxial samples anisotropically consolidated to various stress ratios. It is shown that the presence of static shear does not always lead to increased resistance to liquefaction or cyclic strain development.

Effect of biological mulches on the shear resistance of soil channels under soil erosion and rainfall simulation [PDF]

open access: yesمدل‌سازی و مدیریت آب و خاک, 2023
IntroductionMechanical properties of most soils alter upon the increase of moisture and saturation. In some soils, certain phenomena appear due to increased moisture. Some of these phenomena lead to major damage in development projects.

Development of slow-release and thickening microencapsulated polymers for oil recovery

open access: yesYouqi dizhi yu caishoulu
In order to solve the problems of high injection resistance and large shear viscosity loss in polymer flooding agents, the microencapsulated polymers with slow-release and thickening properties were prepared by inverse emulsion polymerization and in situ

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Analysis of Dowel Action in Reinforced Concrete Beams with Shear Reinforcement

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering, 2021
The shear transfer mechanism was examined to view the contributions of different components of shear transfer such as aggregate interlocking, dowel force and uncracked compression zone.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated
