Unidirectional Tape‐Based Composites from Hemp and Pineapple Leaf Fiber: Mechanical Performance in Conventional and Bio‐Based Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study investigates novel semi‐finished products made of unidirectionally arranged hemp or pineapple leaf fiber‐reinforced composites produced from different matrices. The materials are analyzed in terms of their mechanical and interfacial properties and void content.

Effect of strain on stripe phases in the Quantum Hall regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Spontaneous breaking of rotational symmetry and preferential orientation of stripe phases in the quantum Hall regime has attracted considerable experimental and theoretical effort over the last decade. We demonstrate experimentally and theoretically that

Shear Resisting Mechanism and Shear Strength Equation for Sandwich Beams

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science Research, 2018
The aim of this study is to eliminate the limitation of existing shear design equations and to establish a complete set of rational as well as computationally efficient shear design equations. On this goal, a macro physical model, based on 2D nonlinear FEM analysis, for both open and full sandwich beams are developed which can clearly demostrate the ...

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

Optimization of Shear Resistance in Horizontal Joints of Prefabricated Shear Walls through Post-Cast Epoxy Resin Concrete Applications

open access: yesBuildings
The horizontal joint is a critical component of the prefabricated shear wall structure, responsible for supporting both horizontal shear forces and vertical loads along with the wall, thereby influencing the overall structural performance.

Shear Strengths of Different Bolt Connectors on the Large Span of Aluminium Alloy Honeycomb Sandwich Structure

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
This study investigates the shear capacity of aluminum alloy honeycomb sandwich plates connected by high-strength, ordinary, or self-tapping bolts. For that purpose, experimental tests and finite elements are carried out.

Shear Resistance Properties of Modified Nano-SiO2/AA/AM Copolymer Oil Displacement Agent

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
To address the problem regarding poor shear resistance of commonly employed polymers for oil displacement, modified nano-SiO2/AA/AM copolymer (HPMNS) oil displacement agents were synthesized using acrylic acid (AA), acrylamide (AM), and modified nano ...
