Shear Strength Properties of Organic Soil with Sand Column [PDF]
This paper discusses the results of a series of direct shear test that were undertaken toinvestigate the behaviour of organic soil with granular soil column. The tests focused oneffect of diameter of granular column in organic soil.

Study on fracture parameter calibration and failure characteristics of rock with hole and crack
The SIF and plastic zone equations for a single hole and crack have been derived. The model's failure state leads to the identification of four types of cracks. The plastic zone increases with increased brittleness and decreased crack length. Abstract Cracks within the surrounding rock of roadways significantly affect their stability and failure ...

Review and prospects of shear test of bolted rock joints
The laboratory shear test equipment, test method, and numerical simulation of bolted rock joints were summarized. The shortcomings and limitations of the current research were analyzed, and the research prospects were proposed. Abstract Rock bolting is a critical approach in geotechnical engineering for supporting weak rocks.

EVALUATION OF SHEAR STRENGTH OF COMPACTED IRON ORE TAILINGS TREATED LATERITIC SOIL
This paper presents the results of a laboratory study on the evaluation of the shear strength of compacted iron ore tailings (IOT) treated lateritic soil. Lateritic soil used was treated with 0 up to 16% IOT by weight of dry soil.

This paper investigates the high‐pressure water jet‐pick combined rock‐breaking mode (HPC), which employs high‐pressure water jets to precut grooves on both sides of the picks. The rock‐breaking patterns and performance of the HPC method are obtained, and the auxiliary rock‐breaking mechanism of water jet grooving is revealed.

Critical expansion points: Mechanical signs of surrounding rock instability
This study proposes the Rock Bearing‐Expansion Model (RockBEM) with critical expansion points (CEPs) to quantify post‐peak damage stages in deep‐buried rock masses via plane strain compression test (PSCT). CEP hysteresis&interval ratios reveal bearing performance dynamics and failure severity, advancing mechanistic insights into deep underground rock ...

Joint orientation significantly affects P‐wave velocity, with the highest velocity at zero‐degree angles, decreasing to 30° as the angle increases. The velocity increases slightly from 30 to 45 degrees but sharply decreases from 45 to 90 degrees. Abstract Determination of the required parameters in different science contexts using the ultrasonic wave ...
