Buckling of Shear Loading Plates with Strengthenings

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2000
AbstractThe paper treats the influence of either weakening or strengthening of rectangular plates on the critical external buckling load. The plate geometry was chosen so that the buckling process takes place in the elastic range. The simply supported plate is loaded with shear forces per unit length which act on its edges.

Shear strengthening of beam-column joints

Engineering Structures, 2002
Shear failure of beam-column joints is identified as the principal cause of collapse of many moment-resisting frame buildings during recent earthquakes. Effective and economical rehabilitation techniques for the upgrade of the joint shear-resistance capacity in existing structures are needed.

Shear strengthening effectiveness with CFF strips

Engineering Structures, 2003
Abstract The present work deals with shear performance of reinforced concrete (RC) beams with rectangular section. The RC beams are designed with shear deficiencies and strengthened by externally bonded carbon fibre fabrics. Four different configurations of externally bonded carbon fibre fabric strips are used to strengthen the reinforced concrete ...

Shear Behavior of Strengthened Beams

2018
Strengthening the reinforced concrete elements using polymer fibers continues to interest many researchers. In this context, an experimental study has been completed to evaluate the reinforcement on shear behavior of beams. Different fiber band positions were applied to beams in nodal zones. The four-point bending tests have been performed. The results

Shear Strengthening with Textile Reinforced Concrete

IABSE Reports, 2014
<p> A large part of existing bridges in Germany exhibits deficits in the shear capacity under static and cyclic loading according to the current design rules. More structures are expected to demand refurbishment and strengthening within the next years especially due to the current conditions of many older road bridges.

Shear strengthening of existing concrete bridges

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 2003
The shear capacity of existing concrete bridge beams is often inadequate and unable to meet current code requirements. This is often due to increased traffic loads, inadequate shear-resistance provision in the original design or deterioration of materials due to aggressive environments.

Shear strength of strengthened RC beams with FRPs in shear

Construction and Building Materials, 2008
Abstract We propose a predictive model for shear strength of RC beams strengthened by fiber material. It consists of a plasticity model for web crushing, a truss model for diagonal tension, and a simple flexural theory based on the ultimate strength method.

SHEAR STRENGTHENING OF URM CLAY WALLS WITH FRP SYSTEMS

Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement for Concrete Structures, 2003
This paper presents an experimental program dealing with the shear strengthening with FRP systems of URM walls built with concrete and clay units. Ten concrete and five clay masonry panels, strengthened with FRP composites in the form of laminates and rods, and stainless steel, were loaded along the wall diagonal to observe their shear performance. The

Shear strengthening of old concrete beams

Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1986
In our March‐April issue last year, the author described work at the Czech Technical University in Prague on the use of epoxy resins to apply new flat reinforcement to old concrete beams in order to enhance or prolong their service life. Here, some further test results and general conclusions are presented on the application of this technique to shear ...

ULTIMATE SHEAR OF BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH CFRP SHEETS

1999
The role of externally applied CFRP sheets in the evaluation of the shear strength of a reinforced concrete element is analyzed. With regard to this an analytical model is developed. It represents an extension of an existing model for the limit analysis of thin-webbed reinforced concrete beams falling in shear.
