Shearing stress on the surface topography by scanning shearing stress microscopy
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 1996A scanning shearing stress microscopy has been developed in order to investigate shearing stress effect in the surface. This microscopy is based on scanning tunneling microscopy and makes it possible to measure shearing stress. The sample is coupled on the AT-cut quartz resonator which is oscillated at its resonance frequency, and the shift of the ...

Dip of the granular shear stress
Physical Review E, 2012Recent experiments reveal an unexpected dip of the shear stress as the shear rate increases, from the rate-independent regime to Bagnold flow. Employing granular solid hydrodynamics, it is shown that in uniform systems, such dips occur for given pressure or normal stress, but not for given density.

Meniscal shear stress for punching.
Journal of applied biomaterials & biomechanics : JABB, 2009Experimental determination of the shear stress for punching meniscal tissue.Meniscectomy (surgical treatment of a lesion of one of the menisci) is the most frequently performed arthroscopic procedure. The performance of a meniscectomy is not optimal with the currently available instruments.
