miR‐135a‐5p Is a Promising Target to Prevent the Glomerulosclerosis Associated with Podocyte Developmental Toxicity in Offspring Induced by Prenatal Dexamethasone Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prenatal dexamethasone exposure (PDE) programs persistent podocyte developmental injury and adult glomerulosclerosis. Mechanistically, glucocorticoid receptor (GR) binds the miR‐135a‐5p promoter and recruits the histone acetyltransferase p300, increasing promoter histone acetylation and sustaining miR‐135a‐5p expression. Elevated miR‐135a‐5p suppresses

A Shear Thickening Colloidal Suspension Functioning via Progressive Impact Jamming with Persistent Lubrication Layer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ionic liquid‐based shear‐thickening fluid (ILSTF) exhibits lubricated dynamics from strong shear thickening to impact‐triggered jamming. A persistent nanometric solvation layer around silica governs both the shear thickening saturation in rheology and jamming front propagation under dynamic impact compression.

Inactivation Rap2a in Endothelial Cell Prevents Pulmonary Fibrosis by Regulating Immune Microenvironment Through MAP4K4‐VCAM1 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified the endothelial RAP2A as a regulator of inflammatory endothelial activation in experimental lung fibrosis and suggest that targeting RAP2A‐mediated signaling may represent a potential strategy to modulate endothelial–immune crosstalk during fibrotic lung injury.

From the Gut to the Brain: Microplastic‐Associated Neurovascular Dysfunction and Implications for Stroke Risk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic oral exposure to microplastics may disrupt gut microbiota homeostasis and intestinal barrier integrity, potentially engaging the gut–brain axis and systemic inflammatory responses. These alterations may be associated with impaired blood–brain barrier function, cerebral microvascular dysfunction, and enhanced endothelial inflammation, pro ...

From shear thickening to shear-induced jamming

Physical Review E, 2002
We show that applying shear to a suspension may lead to either thickening or permanent jamming, depending on the volume fraction of the considered suspension. Interpreting measurements of conductivity under shear, we invoke a dynamical structural transition to explain the origin of shear thickening in suspensions of non-Brownian particles.

Continuous shear thickening and discontinuous shear thickening of concentrated monodispersed silica slurry

Advanced Powder Technology, 2020
Abstract Concentrated slurry is known to exhibit shear thickening behavior, in which viscosity increases as the shear rate ascends. However, to identify the differences between this shear thickening behavior and rapid increases in viscosity (such as the dilatancy behavior of starch, sand, and other concentrated slurries) and the smooth increases in ...

Shear-thickening polishing method

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2015
Abstract A shear-thickening polishing (STP) method utilizing the shear thickening mechanism of non-Newtonian power-law fluid based slurry is proposed for curved surface polishing. The STP principle and micro-material removal action are analyzed. The high-performance STP slurry with the shear-thickening rheological behaviors has been prepared.

Shear thickening-shear thinning and shear thinning-shear thickening transitions in polymeric systems

Caderno Pedagógico
This review explores the complex rheological behaviors of hydrogels, specifically focusing on shear thinning-shear thickening (PD) and the less common shear thickening-shear thinning (DP) transitions. While shear thinning (viscosity decrease with increasing shear rate) is widely utilized in applications like 3D printing and injectables, and shear ...
