Low‐Activation Compositionally Complex Alloys for Advanced Nuclear Applications—A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐activation compositionally complex alloys (LACCAs) are advanced metallic materials primarily composed of low‐activation elements, offering advantages such as rapid compliance with operational standards and safe recyclability. This review highlights their potential for extreme high‐temperature irradiation environments as structural materials for ...

A bilateral shear layer between two parallel Couette flows

open access: yes, 2012
We consider a shear layer of a kind not previously studied to our knowledge. Contrary to the classical free shear layer, the width of the shear zone does not vary in the streamwise direction but rather exhibits a lateral variation.

An Integrated MATLAB Code for Homogenization‐Based Topology Optimization and Generating Functionally Graded Surface Lattices for Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Unlocking structural efficiency, this work integrates homogenization‐based topology optimization with functionally graded triply periodic minimal surface lattices to create highly efficient, customizable lattice structures. Key achievements include the development of a versatile MATLAB framework, optimization of mechanical properties for additive ...

Seismic Performance of Precast Double-Skin Composite Shear Wall with Horizontal Connection Region

open access: yesBuildings
This paper proposed a novel, precast double-skin composite (DSC) shear wall, which was composed of two precast parts at the factory and welding and pouring grouting material on site.

Multimaterial Approach to Improve the Mechanical Properties of a Novel Modified Auxetic Reentrant Honeycomb Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A multimaterial approach is introduced to improve upon auxetic structures by combining two different polymers into the same reentrant honeycomb structure via additive manufacturing. The deformation behavior as well as the resulting Poisson's ratio are thereby improved significantly.

The effect of shear wall location in resisting earthquake

open access: yes, 2018
Shear wall is one of lateral resisting structure which is used commonly. Shear wall gives high stiffness to the structure so as the structure will be stable.

On the Deformation Behavior of Metastable CrMnNi Steels Processed by Directed Energy Deposition in Different Temperature Regimes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In the present study, metastable CrMnNi steels with varying chemical compositions and a concomitantly altered stacking fault energy are processed via directed energy deposition and afterwards tested via tensile tests at different temperatures. The present study shows the influence of the manufacturing process on the elemental deformation mechanisms for

The Influence of Single Shear Walls on the Behaviour of Coupled Shear Walls in High-rise Structures

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2011
AbstractThis paper presents a simple method of analysis to determine the influence of single shear walls (SSW) on the degree of coupling DoC and on the peak shear demand PSD for beams of coupled shear walls (CSW) in mixed shear wall structures (MSW). Non-coupled lateral load resisting structures such as singular planar walls will reduce primary bending

Significance of Shear Wall in Multi-Storey Structure With Seismic Analysis

open access: yes, 2018
In past decades, shear walls are one of the most appropriate and important structural component in multi-storied building. Therefore, it would be very interesting to study the structural response and their systems in multi-storied structure.
