Longitudinal shear wave and transverse dilatational wave in solids

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2015
Dilatation wave involves compression and extension and is known as the curl-free solution of the elastodynamic equation. Shear wave on the contrary does not involve any change in volume and is the divergence-free solution. This letter seeks to examine the elastodynamic Green's function through this definition.

ELASTICITY MEASUREMENTS BY SHEAR WAVE ELASTOGRAPHY: COMPARISON AND SELECTION OF SHEAR WAVE, RAYLEIGH WAVE AND LAMB WAVE THEORY

Journal of Mechanics in Medicine and Biology, 2018
Shear wave elastography (SWE) is a powerful method for the diagnosis of tissue disorders or degeneration based on tissue elasticity. In SWE application, it was recognized that the wave speed depends not only on the tissue elasticity but also on the structural shape, leading to different theoretical models.

Waves on a shear flow

Bulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1974
The propogation of disturbance when a shear flow with a free surface, in a channel of infinite horizontal extent and finite depth, is disturbed by the application of time-oscillatory pressure, is studied. The initial value problem is solved by using transform techniques and the steady state solution is obtained therefrom in the limit t → ∞.

Three-wave radial shearing interferometer

Optics Letters, 2019
We propose a simple and compact three-wave radial shearing interferometer (TWRSI). This interferometer is constructed by a Gabor zone plate (GZP) and a charge-coupled device (CCD). The nominal plane wavefront under test is diffracted by the GZP into three orders (i.e., a parallel beam, a converging spherical beam, and a diverging spherical beam ...

SHEAR WAVE IMAGING

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
Shear wave imaging is provided in medical diagnostic ultrasound. A region is imaged to determine a location in which to calculate shear velocity. The shear velocity is estimated for the location. The imaging may guide the identification of the location, reducing the time to determine useful shear information.
