Effect of water temperature and fish biomass on environmental DNA shedding, degradation, and size distribution

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2019
Environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis has successfully detected organisms in various aquatic environments. However, there is little basic information on eDNA, including the eDNA shedding and degradation processes.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Epithelial cell shedding and barrier function: a matter of life and death at the small intestinal villus tip [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The intestinal epithelium is a critical component of the gut barrier. Composed of a single layer of intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) held together by tight junctions, this delicate structure prevents the transfer of harmful microorganisms, antigens ...

Shedding light on charmonium

open access: yesPhysical Review D
We investigate E1 radiative transitions within charmonium in a relativistic approach based on light-front QCD. In quantum field theory, two sets of processes are pure E1: χc0→J/ψγ (ψ→χc0γ) and hc→ηcγ (ηc′→hcγ), both involving the P-wave charmonia. We compute the E1 radiative decay widths as well as the corresponding transition form factors of various ...

Proteolytic ectodomain shedding of membrane proteins in mammals—hardware, concepts, and recent developments

open access: yesEMBO Journal, 2018
Proteolytic removal of membrane protein ectodomains (ectodomain shedding) is a post‐translational modification that controls levels and function of hundreds of membrane proteins.

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Advances in Bioanalytical Techniques and Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics Research of Adeno-Associated Viral Vector Gene Therapy Drugs

open access: yes罕见病研究
Recently, adeno-associated virus(AAV)vectors have been a hotspot in gene therapy and have shown great potential for rare diseases therapy, due to their low pathogenicity, mild immunogenicity and high tissue specificity.

Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase-Producing Enterobacteriaceae in Hospitalized Neonatal Foals: Prevalence, Risk Factors for Shedding and Association with Infection

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
Extended-spectrum β-lactamase Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-E) have been investigated in adult horses, but not in foals. We aimed to determine shedding and infection in neonatal foals and mares.

Functional Characterization of Colon-Cancer-Associated Variants in ADAM17 Affecting the Catalytic Domain

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2020
Although extensively investigated, cancer is still one of the most devastating and lethal diseases in the modern world. Among different types, colorectal cancer (CRC) is most prevalent and mortal, making it an important subject of research.
