Estimates of the energy required for maintenance by adult sheep 1. Housed sheep
Animal Science, 1963SUMMARYEight adult ewes were fasted for 114 hr. During the last 48 hr. the heat emission of each sheep was measured by direct calorimetry and was found to be 35·2 kcal./kg.0·87/24 hr., that is, 973 kcal./24 hr. for a sheep of 45·4 kg. (100 lb.) live-weight. From this value it is estimated that the 100 lb. sheep would require daily 0·79 lb.

Determination of nutritional requirements of growing hair sheep
Small Ruminant Research, 1991Abstract Data from five experiments with growing Pelibuey sheep in a tropical environment were used to study some factors affecting dry matter intake (DMI) and to estimate metabolizable energy requirements.

The energy requirements of sheep for maintenance and gain. I. Pen fed sheep
The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1962Four experiments have been conducted with sheep, housed and fed in pens, to determine the maintenance and live-weight gain requirements of sheep under such conditions.1. Fifteen Corriedale sheep of initial live weight 115 lb. were fed at maintenance for 13 weeks.

The phosphorus requirements for growth and maintenance of sheep
The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1982SUMMARYPhosphorus requirements for maintenance and growth were assessed by giving to growing lambs and non-pregnant ewes diets low in P and to growing lambs a diet containing the quantity of P recommended by the Agricultural Research Council (1980).Seven 14-week-old lambs were given ad libitum a pelleted diet containing 1·88 (LP) or 2·75 (NP) g P/kg D.

Amino Acid Requirements and Biological Value of Proteins for Sheep
The Journal of Nutrition, 1987An intragastric infusion model was used to determine the biological value of three protein sources for sheep. Biological value was calculated from the regression of urinary nitrogen on nitrogen intake. A casein-amino acid mixture corresponding to previously determined metabolic amino acid requirements as well as casein alone and gelatin was studied ...

[Space required for sheep during transport].
DTW. Deutsche tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 1997Space required for different body, positions was investigated for sheep of different weight and genetic background in undisturbed housing conditions. Body temperature, as stress indicator, was measured at different intervals during transport. The loading situation caused a distinct increase; a slight increase was measured after unloading.

ADRENOCORTICAL STEROID REQUIREMENTS FOR INITIATION OF ACTH‐DEPENDENT HYPERTENSION IN SHEEP
Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 1989SUMMARY1. Previous studies demonstrated that the combined infusion of cortisol (F), aldosterone (ALDO), deoxycorticosterone (DOC), corticosterone (B), 11‐deoxycortisol (S), 17α‐hydroxyprogesterone (17αOHP) and 17α, 20α‐dihydroxy‐4‐pregnane‐3‐one (17α20αOHP), at rates equivalent to their production during adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) treatment ...

Estimating net energy requirements of male Djallonke sheep
Animal Production ScienceContext Energy requirements in sheep can vary significantly due to various factors, including age, breed, sex and environmental conditions. Genetic selection and crossbreeding further contribute to this variability.

Structural requirements for steroid inhibition of sheep lymphocyte mitogenesis {ulIn Vitro]
Steroids, 1984The inhibitory effects of different steroids and related compounds on sheep peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) during exposure to the mitogen, phytohemagglutinin (PHA), have been measured by the reduction of [3H]thymidine incorporation into DNA. Dose-response curves showed that a maximum (or near maximum effect) was achieved at a steroid concentration ...
