Stability Analysis of Coastal Sheet Pile Wall Considering Soil Weakening Induced by Earthquake Loading

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
A sheet pile wall is a widely used retaining structure in coastal and riverbank areas. In liquefiable soils, seismic activity can generate excess pore pressure, which not only increases the load on the sheet pile wall but also reduces the soil strength ...

Case study of GFRP as a sheet-pile wall for stream bank protection in Taiwan

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2021
The successful design of a structure requires not only the proper analysis of the structure but also the careful consideration of the environment that the structure is situated in. For many waterfront structures such as those near harbors, lakes, streams,

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

Investigation on lateral pressure on a sheet-pile wall with EPS layer supporting an expansive soil slope

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
A sheet-pile wall was adopted to fortify the expansive soil slope in 4970 Special Railway Line in Dangyang City, China. Due to a water-swelling property of expansive soil, a significant increment of lateral pressure may be induced behind a sheet-pile ...

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Design and Analysis of Compression–Torsion Coupling Metamaterials Using the Golden Section Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel compression–torsion metamaterial is engineered using inclined rods and symmetry breaking. To optimize its torsional performance, the golden section method is employed. The mechanical response of the metamaterial is validated through both numerical analysis and experimental validation.
