Effect of Presence of Single Cavity Upstream Side of Sheet Pile Wall on Steady Time and Quantity of Seepage

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2018
When the sheet pile is used as the reservoir wall or retains the action of saturated fills and cuts for construction works, it will be certain that the seepage occurs from the back side (retained side) to the working place (opposite side).

The Effect of Distance between Sheet Pile and Foundation on Bearing Capacity of Foundation

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
In this study, the presence of a foundation near the sheet pile wall built on sand soil was simulated in the laboratory, similar to the field conditions.

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

Basin excavation using robotic manipulator of geo-centrifuge at NHRI

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2020
The simulation of basin excavation process of the sheet-pile wharf in the centrifugal modeling tests is mostly carried out under 1g. Also an elevation of 1g to Ng is added compared with the prototype, which results in the same stress state but different ...

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

SUITABLE LOCATION OF SHEET PILE UNDER DAM RESTING ON SANDY SOIL WITH CAVITY

open access: yesMağallaẗ Al-kūfaẗ Al-handasiyyaẗ, 2018
This research describes the seepage characteristics of experimental model test of dam with cutoff located at different region (at dam heel, at mid floor of dam, and at dam toe).

Wood Cellulosic Membrane With Abundant Nanochannels for Stabilizing Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐derived cellulosic membrane separator is developed to suppress dendrite growth in aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. Its aligned nanochannels and hydroxyl‐rich surfaces enable uniform Zn2+ flux, water immobilization, and interfacial stabilization. Zn||Zn cells achieve 1920 h of cycling, Zn||Cu cells maintain 99.5% Coulombic efficiency over 1000 cycles,

Controlling Seepage Flow Beneath Hydraulic Structures: Effects of Floor Openings and Sheet Pile Wall Cracks

open access: yesBuildings
Using one opening (filter) within the floors of hydraulic structures is a known technique to relieve the seepage effects on their floors. In this study, a new method to control seepage flow by using two identical filters instead of one was tackled ...

Lateral Behavior of a Double Sheet Pile Wall Structure

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 1974
ABSTRACT A theoretical analysis was performed on the lateral behavior of double sheet pile wall structures. The analysis considers an elastic equilibrium of forces acting on a horizontal slice cut from the over-all structure to introduce the basic equations on the deflection of sheet piles. Then these equations were solved for the six cases of simple

Spontaneous Helical Alignment of Smooth Muscle Cells to Form a Medial Layer for Engineered Microvasculature

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Spontaneous helical alignment of smooth muscle cells is induced within resistance‐vessel‐sized channels patterned within a hydrogel. The extent of the cells’ orientation angle is dependent on the presence and composition of ECM proteins lining the channel wall and cell seeding density.
