Role of bpfA in adhesion and biofilm formation of Shewanella putrefaciens CN32 under cold stress: a comprehensive transcriptomic analysis

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
As a specific spoilage organism of seafood under refrigerated temperature conditions, Shewanella spp. tend to form biofilms that exacerbate the occurrence of seafood spoilage.

Investigation of the gut microbiome community, abundance, and functions of Procambarus clarkii under different aquaculture conditions

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract To examine the gut microbial composition and functional attributes of red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) across different rearing environments, this experiment employed high‐throughput sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene of bacterial DNA isolated from the gut.

Conjugative Transfer of Disease‐Encoding Plasmid Variants in Serratia spp. Alter Production of Enzymes and Virulence Properties

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Analysis of plasmid transconjugants relative to plasmid‐free and plasmid‐carrying Serratia spp. demonstrates erratic disease phenotypes and reduced fitness. Transconjugants also show reduced ability to degrade substrates associated with virulence, supported by transcriptomic data.

Effects of aqueous complexation on reductive precipitation of uranium by Shewanella putrefaciens [PDF]

open access: yesGeochemical Transactions, 2004
We have examined the effects of aqueous complexation on rates of dissimilatory reductive precipitation of uranium by Shewanella putrefaciens. Uranium(VI) was supplied as sole terminal electron acceptor to Shewanella putrefaciens (strain 200R) in defined laboratory media under strictly anaerobic conditions. Media were amended with different multidentate

Data_Sheet_1_Bioenergetics of aerobic and anaerobic growth of Shewanella putrefaciens CN32.PDF

open access: yes, 2023
Shewanella putrefaciens is a model dissimilatory iron-reducing bacterium that can use Fe(III) and O2 as terminal electron acceptors. Consequently, it has the ability to influence both aerobic and anaerobic groundwater systems, making it an ideal ...

Building and Optimizing a Spectroelectrochemical System for the Study of Shewanella Putrefaciens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Shewanellaceae are among the most widely studied electroactive microorganisms. This study reports on Shewanella putrefaciens under anaerobic conditions during applied potential while monitored by spectroscopy.

Polyphasic discrimination of Shewanella seohaensis from closely related species and a whole-genome multilocus (wgMLST) scheme for the evaluation of diversity within this Shewanella clade

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology
Shewanella is an environmentally ubiquitous genus with significant roles in bioelectrochemical applications and human infections. However, identification problems involving Shewanella putrefaciens, Shewanella xiamenensis, and Shewanella seohaensis have ...

Recent Advances in Lemongrass Essential Oil: Food Safety, Preservation, and Bioactivity in Food Systems

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Lemongrass essential oil (LGEO) has gained recognition as a natural preservative in food systems due to its distinctive phytochemical composition and multifunctional bioactivities. Dominated by citral and complemented by terpenes and phenolic compounds, LGEO demonstrates potent antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antibiofilm, and antioxidant

Advances in Probiotic and Prebiotic Applications for Sustainable Aquaculture: Harnessing Their Roles in China’s Marine Pasture Restoration and Health

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Aquaculture is the fastest‐growing food‐producing sector globally, yet intensive farming in China has led to severe ecological degradation of coastal marine pastures, including habitat loss, disease outbreaks, and dysbiosis of cultured species. Probiotics (beneficial live microorganisms) and prebiotics (non‐digestible substrates that promote beneficial

Antibiotic Selection and Outcomes in Patients With Monomicrobial and Polymicrobial Vibrio Necrotizing Fasciitis

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) caused by Vibrio species is a rapidly progressing, life‐threatening infection. The purposes of this study were to characterize polymicrobial Vibrio NF and compare its clinical features, microbiology, antimicrobial therapy, and outcomes with those of monomicrobial Vibrio NF, and to evaluate the effective usage of ...
