Inactivation of Shewanella putrefaciens by Plasma Activated Water

open access: yesPlasma Chemistry and Plasma Processing, 2018
Plasma activated water (PAW) generated by atmospheric-pressure air microplasma arrays is a solution containing a variety of reactive species. Here we investigate the effects of different applied voltage and water-activated time on bactericidal activities against Shewanella putrefaciens (S. putrefaciens).

Shewanella putrefaciensbacteraemia associated with terminal ileitis

open access: yesPaediatrics and International Child Health, 2013
Shewanella putrefaciens has a wide geographical distribution, including sea- and fresh water, fish and soil, but it is an unusual pathogen in humans. A previously healthy boy without known immunodeficiency presented with fever, abdominal pain and diarrhoea, and a mass in the right lower quadrant.

Shewanella (Pseudomonas) putrefaciens Bacteremia

Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1995
Shewanella (Pseudomonas) putrefaciens is a rare pathogen in humans, and to our knowledge only 13 cases of S. putrefaciens bacteremia have ever been reported in the literature. In this retrospective study we describe 28 cases of S. putrefaciens bacteremia: 16 in premature and 1-day-old neonates, 9 in adults, and 3 in children younger than 1 year of age.

Shewanella putrefaciens , a Rare Cause of Osteomyelitis

The International Journal of Lower Extremity Wounds, 2013
Shewanella putrefaciens is a Gram-negative bacillus with a distinguishable characteristic of hydrogen sulfide production and routinely found in a marine environment. This organism has been cultured as a pathogen in a small number of soft tissue infections, but has rarely been the causative agent in osteomyelitis.

A Rare Cause of Wound Infection: Shewanella putrefaciens

Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2004
Shewanella putrefaciens has a wide geographical distribution, including all forms of sea water, fresh water, fish and soil. In humans, it is an unusual pathogen of wound infections. In this report, a wound infection was presented in a previously healthy man.
