Assessment of Vivianite Formation in Shewanella Putrefaciens Culture
Environmental Technology, 2000The formation of vivianite during the growth of Shewanella putrefaciens was determined in a culture medium containing soluble iron III citrate (90 mM) as electron acceptor, lactate (25 mM) as electron donor and 9 mM phosphate. The phenomenon started slowly in contrast to abiotic assays where precipitation occurred immediately.

A case report of intracranial infection caused by Shewanella putrefaciens
Neurological Sciences, 2014Shewanella putrefaciens is as yet reputed to be a rare conditional pathogen. In recent years, some clinical infections caused by Shewanella putrefaciens came into view, and it was possible for the bacteria to be isolated from blood, pus, urine, sputum, and wound secretions, etc.

Ventilator-associated pneumonia due toShewanella putrefaciens
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2010The first reported U.S. case of ventilator-associated pneumonia evidently caused by Shewanella putrefaciens is described.A 39-year-old man with severe head trauma was found face down and unresponsive in a river after a watercraft accident. After being resuscitated and transferred to the intensive care unit, the patient received treatment for a ...

Palmar Soft Tissue Infection From Shewanella putrefaciens
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2018Shewanella putrefaciens, a gram-negative bacillus, ubiquitous in marine environments, is an opportunistic agent reported to cause rare human infection, most commonly in patients who are immunocompromised or who have a preexisting soft tissue defect. We present an immunocompetent, 40-year-old woman with a soft tissue infection of the left palm caused by

Antibiofilm efficacies and mechanism of perillaldehyde against Shewanella putrefaciens
Food MicrobiologyShewanella putrefaciens is Gram-negative bacterium and important spoilage organism in aquatic products, negatively impacting the organoleptic properties of aquatic products. S. putrefaciens could form biofilm, which increases persistence and contamination in food system.

Solvent Tolerance Mechanisms in Shewanella putrefaciens IBBPo6
Water, Air, & Soil Pollution, 2015Shewanella putrefaciens IBBPo6 (KM405339) showed good tolerance to 5 % organic solvents. The growth was higher when S. putrefaciens IBBPo6 cells were exposed to n-decane, as compared with the growth of cells exposed to toluene, o-xylene, ethylbenzene, cyclohexane, or n-hexane. Thus, n-decane was less toxic for S.

Shewanella putrefaciens isolated in a case of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
Respiration; international review of thoracic diseases, 2004We report the isolation of the aquatic gram-negative bacterium Shewanella putrefaciens from the bronchoalveolar lavage in a case of ventilator-associated pneumonia. To our knowledge, this species has never been isolated from the lower respiratory tract before as a potential pathogen.
