Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Monte Carlo Simulation-Based Investigation of Epoxy/Dysprosium Composites for X-ray and Gamma-ray Shielding Across Medicine Energy Ranges [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Materials in Engineering
Introduction and Objectives: Ionizing radiation protection is essential for minimizing the harmful effects of radiation exposure. While lead has traditionally been used as a shielding material due to its high density, its toxicity and physical ...

Shielding Effectiveness of Laminated Shields

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2008
Shielding prevents coupling of undesired radiated electromagnetic energy into equipment otherwise susceptible to it. In view of this, some studies on shielding effectiveness of laminated shields with conductors and conductive polymers using plane-wave theory are carried out in this paper.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Implementation of automated radiopharmaceutical dispenser with integrated radiation shielding

open access: yesJournal of Associated Medical Sciences, 2009
During the preparation of radiopharmaceutical, nuclear medicine staff receive radiation doses to hands much higher than the other parts of the body.

Method for Shielding Evaluation of Industrial Radiography with Ir [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Protection and Research
Background Iridium-192 (192Ir) is one of the radioisotopes most commonly utilized for industrial radiography worldwide. In accordance with the Nuclear Safety Act of the Republic of Korea, the use of projectors containing 192Ir sources requires conducting

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.
