On embeddings of shifts of finite type into the golden-mean-Dyck shift

2010 International Symposium On Information Theory & Its Applications, 2010
We consider the embedding problem for shifts of finite type into the golden-mean-Dyck shift. To this end, we study periodic points in the golden-mean-Dyck shift. We obtain the number of such periodic points of length n in the form of the trace of the n-th term of a sequence of the associated matrices.

ZETA FUNCTIONS FOR HIGHER-DIMENSIONAL SHIFTS OF FINITE TYPE

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2009
This work investigates zeta functions for d-dimensional shifts of finite type, d ≥ 3. First, the three-dimensional case is studied. The trace operator Ta1,a2;b12and rotational matrices Rx;a1,a2;b12and Ry;a1,a2;b12are introduced to study [Formula: see text] -periodic patterns.

On embedding conditions of shifts of finite type into the Fibonacci-Dyck shift

2012 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory Proceedings, 2012
We consider the embedding problem for shifts of finite type (SFT) into the Fibonacci-Dyck shift. First, we find the reflection principle does not hold for the path in the Fibonacci-Dyck shift. Then, we obtain the limit of a sequence of topological entropies of a class of irreducible (d − 1)-step SFT of the Fibonacci-Dyck shift, where d(≥ 2) are even ...

On the asymptotic range of cocyles for shifts of finite type

Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems, 1993
AbstractWe study the problem of lifting ergodicity to certain skew-product extensions over shifts of finite type. This can be done by computing the asymptotic range of the defining cocycle. For a class of ergodic shift-invariant measures and a class of functions (defining conservative extensions) we give a characterization of ergodicity in terms of ...
