On the Relation between Topological Entropy and Restoration Entropy [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
In the context of state estimation under communication constraints, several notions of dynamical entropy play a fundamental role, among them: topological entropy and restoration entropy. In this paper, we present a theorem that demonstrates that for most dynamical systems, restoration entropy strictly exceeds topological entropy.

On the computability of the topological entropy of subshifts [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2006
We prove that the topological entropy of subshifts having decidable language is uncomputable in the following sense: For no error bound less than 1/4 does there exists a program that, given a decision procedure for the language of a subshift as input, will approximate the entropy of the subshift within the error bound.

On the Categorical Entropy and the Topological Entropy [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices, 2017
To an exact endofunctor of a triangulated category with a split-generator, the notion of entropy is given by Dimitrov-Haiden-Katzarkov-Kontsevich, which is a (possibly negative infinite) real-valued function of a real variable. In this paper, we propose a conjecture which naturally generalizes the theorem by Gromov-Yomdin, and show that the categorical

Topology and topological sequence entropy [PDF]

open access: yesScience China Mathematics, 2019
Let $X$ be a compact metric space and $T:X\longrightarrow X$ be continuous. Let $h^*(T)$ be the supremum of topological sequence entropies of $T$ over all subsequences of $\mathbb Z_+$ and $S(X)$ be the set of the values $h^*(T)$ for all continuous maps $T$ on $X$.

Topological entropy of DNA sequences [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2011
Abstract Motivation: Topological entropy has been one of the most difficult to implement of all the entropy-theoretic notions. This is primarily due to finite sample effects and high-dimensionality problems. In particular, topological entropy has been implemented in previous literature to conclude that entropy of exons is higher than of ...
