Copepod Mortality due to Short-Term Exposure to Natural Ultraviolet Radiation at Subtropical Latitudes. [PDF]

Zooplankton are key nodes in the food web. We demonstrate that approximately 40%–50% of the copepods died following a few hours of exposure to outdoor ultraviolet radiation (UV). The defence mechanisms of these organisms were insufficient to mitigate this environmental threat.
