Ship trajectory anomaly detection
Intelligent Data Analysis, 2019This paper compares a number of state-of-the-art anomaly detection methods on real ship trajectories obtained by an Automatic Identification System (AIS) in the Baltic sea. Because most methods need fixed length trajectory representations, the paper also gives some solutions for reducing variable length trajectories to a fixed size.

GOPCE-Based Approach to Ship Detection
IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2012A new approach is proposed for ship detection, based on the generalized optimization of polarimetric contrast enhancement (OPCE). The new approach consists of two steps. For the first step, the OPCE problem will be solved for obtaining optimal polarizations. In this way, the received powers of a sea area are suppressed.

Benchmarking operational SAR ship detection
IEEE International IEEE International IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2004. IGARSS '04. Proceedings. 2004, 2004The performances of eight satellite SAR ship detection systems (most of them operational) are compared, by running a benchmark test on RADARSAT images of various modes.

An information system for ship detection and identification
2011 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2011We have since last year been designing a ship detection and identification system (SDIS) which aims to contribute to the mitigation of maritime issues that have been increasing in recent years. SDIS will integrate many existing data sources which are readily available either commercially or through partnerships with governmental organizations including

Operational approach for ship detection and classification
2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009The necessity to control all the activities within the marine environment is nowadays vital for most official authorities. Besides protecting the ecosystem and providing safety and surveillance along the transportation corridors, illegal immigration and sustainable economic activities are also issues to cover.

Ship Detection by Modified RetinaNet
2018 10th IAPR Workshop on Pattern Recognition in Remote Sensing (PRRS), 2018Ship detection in optical remote sensing imagery has been a hot topic in recent years and achieved promising performance. However, there are still several problems in detecting ships with various sizes. The key objective of all scales precise positioning is to obtain a high resolution feature map while having a high semantic characteristic information.

Ship detection in MODIS imagery
SPIE Proceedings, 2011Understanding the capabilities of satellite sensors with spatial and spectral characteristics similar to those of MODIS for Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) is of importance because of the upcoming NPOES with 100 minutes revisit time carrying the MODIS-like VIIRS multispectral imaging sensor.

Ship detection by SAR interferometry
IEEE 1999 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. IGARSS'99 (Cat. No.99CH36293), 2003In order to extend the capabilities of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery to the detection of small ships on an agitated sea surface, even with low incidence angles, a new method based on SAR interferometry and coherence techniques has been developed.
