Probabilistic ship domain with applications to ship collision risk assessment
Ocean Engineering, 2019Abstract Ship domain plays a critical role in ship traffic risk assessment and safe navigation. Today, the widely available AIS data makes it possible to capture the diverse behaviors of navigators and navigational conditions by vessel trajectories in practice.

Ship domain model for ships with restricted manoeuvrability in busy waters
Journal of Navigation, 2021AbstractShip domain is an important theory in ship collision avoidance and an effective collision detection method. First, several classical ship domain models are used in experiments. The results show that the alarm rate is too high in busy waters, leading to greatly reduced practicality of the model.

Dynamic Fuzzy Ship Domain Considering the Factors of Own Ship and Other Ships
Journal of Navigation, 2018In this paper, we propose a novel dynamic fuzzy ship domain that considers factors associated with both one's own ship and other ships. This is in contrast to existing ship domain models that operate from the perspective of one's own ship, considering only the factors relevant to that ship.

Collision risk identification of autonomous ships based on the synergy ship domain
2018 Chinese Control And Decision Conference (CCDC), 2018In this paper, a novel ship domain model termed synergy ship domain (SSD) is proposed. Unlike other ship domains, the proposed SSD is more useful and more flexible to identify the dynamic changes of collision risk. In this paper, the safety passing ship domain is integrated with the early warning ship domain and based on the synergetic theory, the SSD ...

Collision risk (CR) assessment is necessary for avoiding collisions with other ships. The CR can be used to make decisions on collision avoidance. In this respect, the ship domain and the closest point of approach (CPA)-based methods have been proposed
